Ayame stands in her garden tending the herbs she has grown so carefully. Her delicate hands tend the plant life lovingly. She wears white robes under the flowery apron she usually wears when tending her garden. As she bends over, her amulet, a depiction of a dragon wrapped around and protecting an elf during some unknown battle, slips out to dangle loosely from her neck. Her long silver-blue hair is held back in a loose braid that snakes over her shoulder as she plucks a weed. Her crystalline lavender eyes shine full of love for the plant life surrounding her.

Power flows around her making the leaves wave even without a breeze. Birds of all colors flit around her playfully, attracted by the serene aura she projects. Rising, a gentle smile graces her pale face as she enjoys the playful antics of the birds around her for a moment before moving gracefully past the foliage and entering a clearing that seethes with power.

Stepping forward, she slips the apron from her, hanging it on a reaching branch before moving fully into the secluded clearing. In the center of the clearing rests a stone altar with many candles and other magical items gathered there. As the sun begins to slip from the sky, setting it on fire, power slowly begins to build, adding to the already dense power residing there.

Silently she begins. Filling the white glowing circle with magic, closing it behind her as she steps through with a thought. Moving to the altar she lights the candles and prepares to cast the spell to move her home further away from the growing civilization and closer to the dense forest miles to the south.

Mentally she focuses her magic into creation of the special runes and symbols needed to complete the move successfully. Pushing her power out, she encircles her entire home and garden before completing the final symbols and runes. “Imperium, Sect Unum, Deresuim,” she called out, building the spell with her mind and voice, “Ederiem, Sect Unum, Solerium,” with a flash she was thrown backwards as the spell backfired, hurtling her through dimensions so swiftly she couldn’t keep track of where she was. Finally the backlash of energy over came her and she passed out.

Her eyes opened slowly, her cheek rested on her hand. Her robes were entangled around her legs, her white leather boots showing when usually they would be concealed by the long flowing silk robes. Pushing up, she glanced around.

The land around her was wild, untamed by farmers and industry. Trees grew with tall majesty, thick and unchecked to rise high enough to kiss the bluish-green sky above them. Plants rose thick around her. Pushing herself up slowly, she took a good look around her. The flowers were massive and unknown to her, there were clinging vines hanging from trees and insects buzzing that she hadn’t ever seen before.

Her eyes widened in wonder at these amazing sights as she absently untangled the robe from her legs and rose up to get a better look around her. Not so far away a large feline stalked a massive herd beast, moving marginally closer to the large mammal as it munched on the strange grasses. Ayame spun in a slow circle, taking in these strange surroundings until it slowly began to sink in that she was not where she was supposed to be. Giving one final despairing glance around, searching for anything familiar, anything at all she whimpered quietly, “where the heck am I ?”

*Gorog was sitting near the strange lady in robes. He had found her while she was passed out. He wondered why she didn’t see him. Perhaps she thought him a strange looking stump? No matter, he was Gorog and Gorog was smart. At least some people thought so. He was a Half-orc. Though he lifted with his mothers people, he was more human then orc. At least mentally he was more human then orc. He had a better upbringing and all. He had his father’s size and brute strength though. He stood at Six feet five inches tall and weight in at three hundred pounds.

His skin was moss colored, which allowed him to blend into the woods a bit. He wore Leather training armor and carried a massive two-handed battle axe on his back. Gorog was not as handsome as a human though. He was shaved bald, and the splotches of color on his face would make one always think of the forest. It suited him though. This was likely what mattered in the end.

He cleared his throat, sounding more like a giant bumblebee then a human. He wondered if he would startle the girl child. He could sense she was dragon kind. He was dragon too in a way. A fierce warrior and fighter, though only considered an apprentice among his kind. He was here because she was the only dragon he really felt still alive in this place.

He had been awoken some time earlier in a distant place. He had felt the keening wails of thousands of dragons dying. He felt each and everyone of them die, he had no idea why they died though. He was hoping human dragon girl could tell him why his head still rattled with the voices of the dying dragons.*

“Me Gorog, need no why head hurt? Girl child help Gorog yes? Help Gorog brain hurt stop? “

*He looked at her expectantly, wondering if she could help him or not. His head really did ache. He had come from the future, not understanding that he had even really traveled back in time. He had just traveled to where the dragon’s deaths had occurred. He wasn’t bright enough to see the bigger picture. He excelled at combat and such, but when it came to actual thinking, he was dead lost. *

(OOC: DUE TO TOMMY PULLING HIS POSTS I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO WRITE A CHARACTER IN TO REPLACE THE ONE HE DELETED. I WILL CONTINUE TO WRITE HIM IN UNTIL THE VERY LAST POST TOMMY DELETED HAS BEEN REPLACED SO AS TO KEEP THE STORYLINE INTACT. ALL REPLACED POSTS WILL BE POSTED IN GREEN.)

Eldyn sat in a quiet thicket in deep meditation, the sounds of nature surrounding him soothingly. His long pointy ears twitched as they took in the chirping of birds and the surrounding sounds of insects, though the sounds didnt really register. They just sort of faded into the background. Even in meditation he was always keenly aware of his surroundings and always on his guard.

With a rapid shift of motion he came out of meditation and called forth vines and rotting branches, giving them life as he dodged and weaved around to avoid him. Intent now upon his training, his odd claw type weapons slashed and hacked at the attacking matter. It took much skill to control the attacking and the attacker and as time wore on sweat beaded upon his brow even as he nimbly avoided the viciously swaying vines and branches.

In an instant his concentration was destroyed as a he sensed an astounding burst of power radiating out from nearby. One of the vines, the only one still active, swished and smacked him across the cheek leaving a stinging welt. He glanced at the offending vine and willed it to fade back to the harmless plant it truly was, "what was that," he slowly began to move towards the epicenter of power, "whatever it was...it was truly immense. An explosion of some sort perhaps? I better go investigate."

His walk turned to a jog and slowly began to pick up speed until he was racing. He skidded to a halt at the edge of the tree line staring at the odd girl standing in the center. It struck him how lovely she was even as his keen eyesight picked out the other, much larger individual in the clearing very close to the girl and the gentle breeze brought the large one's voice to his keen ears and made him smile at the...uneducated way the large one spoke to the girl, "maybe it's just his way of getting the girl's attention," he shrugged even as he spoke so softly to himself that it couldnt even be considered a whisper, "oh well i'll just watch for a bit and see what happens."

Ayame kept staring at the unfamiliar surroundings, her eyes touching on and passing over an odd looking…tree?…she took a few steps and sent out little tendrils of power to talk with the wildlife in the area to try and get a bead on where she was. The signals she got back were odd and totally unfamiliar. As her power hit that odd tree it came back to her that it wasn’t a tree at all and she backed away slowly, timidly, even as she allowed those power tendrils to disperse.

Behind and around her shadows began to form and coalesce even as she backed away from the odd tree as it cleared it’s throat and started to speak which caused her to realize this odd…thing was actually a person…maybe.

Naturally scared of most individuals even those she had healed before and those needing healing her immediate response to this…odd man was to continue to back away even as she pulled out her healing energies and engulfed him in the white light she used for any and all healing. As he was engulfed in her healing energies he would feel a tingling sensation surround him and most if not all of any kind of fatigue and pain would dissipate.

So bright was her light that the shadows surrounding her became readily apparent, the illumination causing their demonic forms to be revealed, though still not fully formed and totally in this particular spot yet. Darkness fell over the clearing, it’s appearance followed by a strong demonic presence marking the arrival of a very powerful adversary.

Through the darkness now surrounding the clearing a sing song voice swirls around her, “so sweet…so pure, come here…come here, close your eyes, rest, sleep, see nothing, hear nothing, lie dormant,” as her power fades from around the odd one the darkness closes in and blocks out all light. The spell in the words slowly filtered into her subconscious, filling it and causing her to yawn, her eyelids to slowly droop down and cover her lavender eyes.

Deep in the darkness he allowed his power to flow around him as his spell filled his words, turning them sweet and tuning them to be easy to enter her mind and cause her to succumb to them. His minions also added to his spell, bolstering it with their voices and power, focusing on the girl and ignoring the...whatever it was she was healing. Most considered it to be too stupid to bother with, just as their master obviously did.

Ayame shook her head to try and keep her eyes open, her body rocking back and forth as the spell sunk deeper into her mind. She rubbed her eyes with her hands but nothing was helping, “I’m so sleepy,” she said softly and at those words the spell intensified even as the voices softened until finally after a few moments she succumbed and her legs buckled causing her to drop to the ground limply. She didn’t feel herself falling as the spell induced sleep caused her to muscles to go lax and her body to become, for all intents and purposes, boneless.

The demonic General smiled. His tactics had worked and he knew his master would be pleased. He turned his attention to this odd imbecile he had snared as well and spoke, “if you know what’s good for you, you’ll leave and forget that you ever saw this girl. Otherwise, I’ll have to kill you,” his voice no longer spell ridden he said to his minions now, “leave him. He’s too stupid to worry about. I‘ll get the girl.”

*Gorog listened as the black demon guy spoke to his minions. He heard their song but since it had no affect on him, he thought it was harmless. He saw the dragon girl swoon and felt her body trying to fall asleep. He connected that with the demon guy. As she attempted to fight it he got really mad. Something was wrong with this picture. He wasn’t smart enough to realize it, but his dragon spirit was.

A roar filled the air not long after the demon guy called him hurtful names. Gorog was beyond thinking now. His dragon spirit had taken over and he was a berserker. One of the most feared kinds there could be. Arrows and swords would seem to do nothing at all to him. Nothing could slow a berserker once they charged. Gorog wasn’t exactly conscious at the moment. He was the berserker and the demon guy had made fun of him. Charging forward, he drew his battle-axe in one hand.

There were pathetic minions in the way. He chopped savagely at one on the right. He cleaved the stunned creatures head right from its shoulder. He caught the one standing next to it in a large hand and nearly crushed its skull before it became airborne. He had launched the pathetic thing straight at its master. Its head nothing more then squishes matter.

Then he was past Ayame, his forward momentum taking him through more minions. Never stopping long enough to see what got stuck to the bottom of his boots. He slashed out at the main demon guy thing. Unsure of what was going on he yelled loudly.*

“GOROG SMASH”

*His axe smashed towards the demon guy. He was wearing armor too, or so Gorog thought. But thinking was not reasonable in this state so his mind shut-up. There was a lot of strength, force and momentum behind that swing. The demon thing may not be able to stop it in time. Especially since Gorog had followed his living (dead) missile right to the guy. He had been only seconds behind his missile weapon. The guy was a bloody demon though and they were not nice people.*

Eldyn stood watching at the edge of the clearing as the girl began backing away from the other person with her. His eyes widened as he not only saw but felt the wave of power she sent out and engulfed the lumbering creature with. The bright light stung his sensitive elfin eyes causing them to tear even as he was made to glance away. Her actions confused him momentarily. She was healing the very person she was afraid of, "that's...odd. She heals him even though he scares her," shaking his head, causing his shoulder length dark hair to fly about him, as he marveled over this inconsistancy.

As he returned his eyes to the clearing they widened at the outlined formes taking shape, his keen sense of smell picking up the demonic stench as it wafted to him on the breeze. Carried to him also was the trickling of power...a spell of some sort maybe that seemed to thread the air and swirl around him. It caused him no harm and left him alone once it acertained that he wasn't the intended target and he frowned noticing that there were a great many minions now in the clearing and an unusual darkness had grown there to encompass the area.

He observed the byplay between the demon and the odd man in the clearing, his keen hearing bringing the offer and the response to said offer to his ears. He noted that the girl, who had been swaying at his last glance, was now toppling over, "aah so the spell was meant for her then. I see."

The great roar that rose from the clearing caused him to jump, startled. His attention fully on the now seemingly enraged large man in the clearing watching as he surged forward and carved a path through the gathering minions towards the demon. He noticed that the minions were gathering around the girl and decided that he would join in, "whatever they want with her, they shall have to get past me to do it," he whispered softly.

Putting on a burst of speed he pulled his sword and hacked his way to where the girl was lying. As he encountered minion after minion small cuts in his clothing first, then on his skin were gained. Some of the attacks he nimbly dodged but there were just too many to totally avoid. For a moment his eyes glowed brightly as he called upon the power of nature itself to aid him in his battle. Thick vines rose to the surface behind where the girl lay, the edges made sharp by his will to cut down the enemy though their sheer size alone would aid much. He sent a small tendril of healing energy to the girl in a quick attempt to heal her but took a slice to the arm for the distraction.

Blood splattered as his weapon sliced deep into the flesh of minions that attacked him. He knew that he would have to remake the vines behind him several times as they would wear away and so he called upon another ability. He muttered for a moment before uttering, "Strength of the Beast." and his aura was thickened momentarily by the surge of power that the incanted words brought forth. He smiled ferally as the power enhanced his own natural endurance and strength. It never lasted very long but he was hoping it would last him just long enough. His clawed hand sliced forward, the metal blades sliding deeply into another minion and shredded both bone and heart.

Pain was a distnat memory now as the adrenalin and power flooded through his system. He bled from a dozen insignifigan wounds and a couple deep slashes. His blade gleamed as it sliced through the dark around him severing flesh from bone. The vines wore and he summoned more in thier place, knowing that he was pushing himself closer to his limit but wanted to protect the girl none the less, "filthy creatures," he snarled, "your trespass will not go unanswered," his sword slicing out at the minions over and over even as he was hit by thier weapons. The sheer number of enemy disallowed him from avoiding all the attacks.

There was a slight breeze in his face, as Biruka followed the smell of an animal he had come to know all too well as of late. It was going to be his next meal. Using his catlike abilities, he swiftly darted between trees as he got closer and closer to his meal. Pulling his bow off his back with one hand and grabbing an arrow with the other, he knocks the arrow without slowing his movements. An instant later the deer comes into view, he quickly takes aim and fires an arrow, piercing the heart of his prey. Biruka relaxes a bit, as he sees the blood falling from the wound. With a keen sense of smell, Biruka casually jogs through the forest towards the fleeing deer, quickly spotting the animal as it finally stumbles and lay dying, breathing its last breath.

Biruka quickly cut up the deer into managable pieces, finds a nearby camp site and starts a fire with some nearby logs, long since dead and dried out. While cooking his meal, Biruka starts to think about his current state, and how he found himself in it.

He was searching for Ayame, he was close, very close. Sensing a force rising, he quickly sprinted to the edge of the clearing, just in time to see Ayame standing at the altar, and saying the final words of her spell. Biruka quickly passed out from the mental forces striking him while being pulled through dimensions. When he awoke, the first images through his mind were of Ayame standing at the altar, and then the confusion of being pulled through dimensions. Suddenly realising his predicament, he got up and looked around for the first time in this strange new world.

That was how it happened, it seems like it all came from a dream, rather unbelievable, but there‘s no denying the reality of his current situation. Biruka comes back to his senses as the smell of his meal came to his nose, mouth watering in anticipation now. Right in the middle of taking a big bite of meat, his ears perk up at the sound of battle. Distant, but clearly recognizable as sounds of conflict, Biruka puts down his meal and takes off towards the sounds.

Closing in the sounds, Biruka hears a loud commotion, and then the sound of feet stomping into the ground as if people were running. Biruka quickly climbs the tree nearest to him and hides in the branches and leaves, drawing his bow and readying an arrow. With the sound of approaching footsteps, running in his direction, he steadies his aim in the direction of the sound. A little surprised by the ugly demons that came through the underbrush into sight, he hesitates, but soon comes back to his senses and fires one shot, piercing one demon through an eye. The second demon, hearing the other hit the ground hard, only runs faster, right underneath the tree where Biruka is hiding. Biruka shoulders his bow and draws his white long sword, jumps down out of the tree in front of the demon as its running under, and beheads the demon with a horizontal swing. Leaving the demon with a twisted look of fear on its dismembered heads face, and Biruka grinning at his handiwork.

With a little more confidence in his step, Biruka trods off towards the site of the main battle, not sure what is in store for him, but sure that if those two were of any indication, they would be more fun to play with.

A Shadowed World Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Shadowed World   A Shadowed World Icon_minitimeSat May 10, 2008 10:19 pm

Ayame lay atop the now dead minion that had moved in to grab her as she fell, now under enchanted slumber, only to find himself dead in the charge by the berserker. Her weight caused him to topple backwards and fall to the ground. Entrapped in the power of the dark one she was unaware of the battle surrounding her. The hem of her white robe slowly became saturated with the blood of the dead and dying minions as the blood covered the ground surrounding her.

The demon drew his sword even as he fed more power to the spell surrounding the girl his master wanted so badly. Nothing short of his death would now wake her and he had no intention of dying. He gave little thought to the new addition, another enemy was another enemy after all and he had his hands full with this berserker right now. Using his sword he slashed at the meagre vines as his sword came up to block the flying missile, passing easily through flesh and bone. He grunted at the impact of his sword on something that very soon he realized was an axe.

He roared into the face of the berserker he was now battling, thrusting back against the axe his sword had hit in an attempt to back up his nemesis even as he jumped backwards slightly and brought his sword slashing out towards the berserker once, twice, thrice, slashing with rapid speed at the hulking giant.

The minions threw themselves at the newcomer in their determination to get to the girl and get her back to their master’s fortress. Failure for them didn’t much matter, but they liked the new general and didn’t want to lose him as their leader so they fought ferociously.

A few of the minions, taking advantage of this new nemesis’s split focus, broke through the line and positioned themselves in the shadows behind him. These few weren’t from the main force, they were from a much different group. These were elites trained by Mistress Elite herself. Blending themselves into the shadows they took up a position behind the elf, watching and waiting for further orders.

Most of the minions were now focusing on the elf, though a few cowards chose to run away from the battle towards the wood line. Uncaring of the consequences if they’re found they raced away, deciding they’d take their chances.

PostSubject: Re: A Shadowed World   A Shadowed World Icon_minitimeSun May 11, 2008 7:22 pm

*Gorog missed a lot of what was going on as he zerked forward. He saw the vines streak past him on either side and growled at the new enemies. He continued to lash forward with his axe. His strikes were haphazard and he had no sense of defense at all. So every slash the demon sent his way struck his armor. The blade would not be able to penetrate his draconium leather armor though. This would quickly become apparent. It did not stop bruising and broken ribs though. *

Meanwhile across the battle field

*Mistress Elite watched the battle from a short distance. She had been sent to watch over her younger brother. He really was an idiot. This is why he was sorely pressed and his minions fleeing in all directions. She sighed inwardly, not daring to move a hairsbreadth until she was ready. Instead of moving, she concentrated on the bodies of her brothers fallen minions.

Shadow tendrils seemed to form from the bodies themselves. The shadow tendrils seemed to be alive. It was almost as if they had been waiting for the minions to die in order to be born. It would stink of demon sorcery. This could have been triggered by the deaths of some of the minions. Demon sorcery was known to be cast on their fodder minions, knowing they would die, in hopes that the insidious magic would kill the enemy.

There was eight shadow tendrils that seemed to center on Avis. Since he was the one, hindering her special minions from taking the girl. The tendrils were inky black in color and were completely saturated in shadow poison. Any creature of the light that the tendrils managed to touch would be infected. If the tendrils found access to the blood stream, say they managed to pierce the flesh or find a cut or any other entry point. The creature of light would die. Basically any creature of light were the goodly races.

She turned her attention to the battlefield, not bothering to watch her shadow tendrils. They weren’t solid and once brought into existence from the plane of shadows they were self-sustaining, even know growing larger as they feasted on the corpses. The fools sword would never cut them. Since they were only shadows, there was nothing to cut. It would also take a huge blast of light to destroy them. Therefore, she was not worried in the least.

*She saw the huge berserker and knew her brother was no match for the cursed creature. She wanted to scream at him for taking this too lightly. A small amount of shadow would do the trick. She shadow stepped to her brothers side Her lance deflected a hit that surely would have killed him.*

Meanwhile Back with Gorog and the male demon

*Gorog pressed his attack, The demon’s attempt to drive him back did not deter him in the least, instead he continued to move defiantly closer. The demon would have to go on the defense sooner or later and even though Gorog wasn’t conscious of his actions, this was the only reasonable course. He caught one of the sword swings in his hand. His fist closing over the blade, causing Gorog’s blood to run freely, but still he didn’t notice any pain. His axe came up and was somehow deflected. Instead of removing the demon’s head with a sure swipe, he clocked the demon with the wide, blunt section of the axe, possibly causing him to collapse. But it was not a killing blow, a good deal of gorog’s strength had been removed when something hit his blade. The he looked down as something distracted him. The berserker fleeing as he saw and felt the head of a lance was driven into his armor at height level.

He blinked in surprise at the strength behind the blow. Then he was being launched backwards under the force of the blow. He caught himself before failing, Pain flared throughout his battered body and he knew this was not going to be pretty. He saw the second demon standing beside the first. He knew her lance had not penetrated his armor, otherwise he would be dead now. Then he winced and coughed up blood. The tip of her lance had penetrated his draconium armor. There was no way in hell her lance was that powerful. He bellowed in rage, trying to resummon the berserker but it was not possible.

Meanwhile back with Mistress Elite

*He saw the opening in the orc’s body as soon as he struck her pitiful brother. Nothing on this world was strong enough to survive an attack with her lance, She smiled victoriously as she scored a direct hit right on his heart. The Shadow Lance had never failed her in her entire life. The berserker had to be dead. As he skidded backwards under the impact, she did not see blood on the end of her lance. Then she heard the bellow and had a feeling they were in a lot of trouble.

She looked to her brother, wondering if the orc had knocked him senseless or worse, killed him with severe blunt trauma. But no, she didn’t think him dead. She had no idea who this berserker was, but he was not a normal being. Then she heard something she had hoped never to hear again.*

Back to Gorog

*He growled as he saw the demoness, it was her that knocked him from his berserk frenzy. He knew from the feeling in his upper body that he had about six broken ribs, his breastbone was bruised badly or cracked and his hand was well there. His draconic roar filled the area, His head rolling in a circle, he had tried to transform to dragon form, but the damage was to great to his body. Instead he had a partially transformation. He had the head of a dragon. The torso of a half orc, his axe had been merged with his arm for a very long talon and Most of his body was covered in dragon scales. He looked rather grotesque at this point. Though his body was protected, even if he could not heal the wounds he already had. Sadly, he could not think of anything to do in retribution. He was a berserker not a strategist, though he was trying to learn. He didn’t know he had any allies and know he faced two demons and had to protect the dragon girl even if it killed him to do so.*

PostSubject: Re: A Shadowed World   A Shadowed World Icon_minitimeSun May 18, 2008 10:36 am

He was a viscious fighter, his sword slashed and hacked continuoulsy even though his sword arm had gone numb from the sheer weight of the weapon and the wielding of it over a long period of time. He called upon nature yet again and around him more of the sharp vines sprang forth to do his bidding in various places around the battlefield and he saw to his satisfaction that many decided to run away from this battle. He grinned the numbers were lessoning greatly between him, his vines, and the deserters.

Periodically his glance strayed to the berserker battling what had to be the main boss of thes minions and with a thought he sent a couple of vines to aid the zerker and to impede the one he was battling with. Even as he did this a pain was felt across his side. He sighed and shook off the pain. He knew he shouldnt have split his attention, however it was more important to him to aid the zerking man than to worry about a miniscule cut. His sword struck out and sliced off the head of the minion who had caused him injury...justice to Eldyn's way of thinking.

So focused was his attention that for a moment he failed to take note of the tendrils forming up from the bodies. It was the scent of demonic magic that had him glancing around. His emerald green eyes flicking from one corpse to another as he noted the tendrils rising from them. With more now to worry about since it seemed that the tenticles seemed to focus more on him than all else and so he dodged or tried to at least allowing more of the minions to get in attacks but he had a feeling that if one of those touched him, he wouldnt be a happy elf.

He backed closer to the girl to gain a little safe ground just long enough to pull a vial of Elfin Fyre out of his pouch. He opened the stopper and shook the fyre into his hand, leaving a small ammount in the vial so that it could recover and be used again. He added his power to the small flame until it was large enough to fit in both of his hands, "flame do my bidding, grow, aid, blaze bright and encompass this battlefield with your ember," he muttered and the flames rose from his hands and carved a path through the minions and surrounded the field with it's bluish black fyre. Any minions caught in this fyre's path would be instantly burned, charred by it's resounding heat.

Within his hands this fyre was cold. Made by the elves in this land it was a last resort weapon and while an elf could hold it in his hands it would char all whom it touched. All save for two of his vines vanished with his use of power to manipulate this fire. The two vines that remained kept the minions at bay around the girl. He heard her stir and his eyes flicked over to her hoping that she was waking even as the fire was making a blazing ring around the clearing, cutting it's path with mindless hunger, feeding off of the energy of the enemy it devoured in it's wake. He frowned as she settled back into slumber. But looking at her innocent face he decided that perhaps it was for the best that she remain asleep til this battle came to it's conclusion.

The giant zerk flying backwards caught his attention and he muttered, "oh, this CANT be good," but there was little he himself could do, he was at his limits, and there were yet more enemies to battle.

Biruka drops to a crouch behind some cover, just outside the clearing. All of a sudden an unusual type of fire comes spreading this way, and he jumps back to avoid getting caught in it. Strangely enough, the fire isn’t burning the forest down, after taking a quick look around, he realised its surrounding the clearing. Biruka scans the area inside the clearing, he notices an elf, surrounded by tendrils of what look to be of a shadow nature, two demons, a male and a female, among other lesser demons of whom are mostly dead now, and a rather odd looking creature with the head of a dragon. After climbing a tree for a better view, he also notices what looks like Ayame, laying down, either unconscious or dead.

Biruka sets his sights on the two demons who appear to be controlling the situation, determined to put an end to this battle to save Ayame, if she isn‘t already dead, his only connection to their home world. He starts to scout around the area, looking for a way past the flames, when he spots a small area where the brush at the edge of the clearing had been trampled down. The trees are far enough apart and the flame low to the ground, with a jump he could get into the clearing. After spotting an entrance to the clearing, he climbs a tree nearby, just high enough so he can get a shot into the clearing with his bow. Taking his bow out, and fitting an arrow onto the string, he pulls back, and sets his sights on what looks like the dominating male demon in the clearing.

With the demon in clear view, Biruka mutters a few words, just a minor fire spell he learned from the dragovians in the other world, and the metal tip of the arrow starts to turn a dark shade of red from the heat. With the heated arrow tip, the arrow will penetrate flesh and bone easily, and thin metal as well. Aiming carefully, he lines up the arrow for a shot at the demons back. The general vicinity of his heart. He lets loose the arrow, and watches it fly towards the demon while putting away his bow. Afterwards, jumping down from the tree, only a short fall, especially for a feline, and then makes his jumping entrance into the clearing over the low burning fire. With both swords out and in position to defend or attack, he lets out a little laugh at the demon he shot, and waits for them to make the first move.

The Demon General continued his attack on his opponent, trying to press forward the attack. He was starting to get angry at the fact that his attacks were only striking armor and not piercing flesh. A twisted grin filled his face as he recognized the energy from the being that just materialized next to him, “aaah sis! Was wondering when you’d show up,” then found him blinking dazedly as he was struck upside the head with his enemy’s axe.

The hit upside the head didn’t really cause any serious harm…his lack of brains ensured that though it did do one thing, the spell he’d been focusing on keeping on the girl broke, he didn’t realize it or otherwise he would have reestablished it. He was more interested in keeping his attention on this unusual adversary.

Across the battlefield Ayame groaned a little bit and rubbed her eyes sleepily as she stirred. “Mmm,” she moaned and rolled over then moaned again and rolled over again as the effects of the spell slowly began to dissipate.

“That lance of yours…it’s always so cool to watch in action,” he began to move forward slowly, moving in on the thing on the ground, “I think, I want you to die now,” but paused as his adversary began to look rather…odd.

Puzzled he stared at this unusual transformation, “sis? Isn’t he UGLY? I want to kill him, do you want to kill him? I’ll let you if you want,” as he began to move towards the downed warrior he paused for a moment realizing that he had better reestablish his spell over the girl, that was why he was there after all.

“HA! Connection reestablished sis,” he whispered to his sister as he reconnected the spell to the girl, “close though she almost woke up,” he blinked as a bright light flared across the battlefield, “sis what is dat,” he asked and then shrugged, not really even paying attention to the answer given.

His eyes widened in annoyance as he narrowly avoided the fire that was aimed towards him only to find himself glancing down as he felt a sudden burst of pain fill his chest. He found that he now had an arrow buried in him…the end sticking out from the front of his chest, “ow. That hurt. I don’t like this.“

Between the fire and the arrow his attachment to the girl was truly and completely severed and really he was tired of all this crap, “sis, I have an owie. I wanna leave now. I’m going. You can play now if you want,” and he jumped up just a little bit as a portal formed around his bleeding mass. Glancing over he gave an almost respectful bow to the warrior on the ground, “name’s gru, I’ll kill you next time we play together, k? Well if sis doesn’t kill you first,” then he vanished into the portal that disappeared right behind him.

Across the battle field she stirred. She shook her head and sat up. Her hand landed in something squishy and wet and her eyes popped open. The light illuminated the macabre mangled headed corpse. She stared down at the hand that had landed in what was left of the head’s remains and shrieked as she scrambled up and away from it, covering her eyes with both hands…smearing the blood from the one across her face.

Like a mini nova power exploded from her in her terror. Moving out from her, twisting wildlife in some spots, healing small animals that were injured in others. It flowed around her even as it swept out from her, purifying and vaporizing the blood and body of the dead minion she had been lying on and any other minions left that it touched.

As her power swept from her it cast the paltry imitation of white light into shadow, outshining it and dispelling the darkness that had covered the battle field, casting the gate where the minions were pouring through into sharp relief.

The healing energy hit the elf, the newcomer who had just entered the clearing, and Gorog and filled him, attempting to heal him, trying to do what it did naturally without any direction from her….if it worked his wounds would vanish, however as the power is untamed and unfocused it was incapable of recovering energy….anyone healed by this energy would still feel exhaustion…..physically and magically.

PostSubject: Re: A Shadowed World   A Shadowed World Icon_minitimeWed May 21, 2008 2:45 pm

*The shadow tendrils were patient. They had thought to attack as soon as the strange elf has used his light, but they waited, hoping for a better moment to strike. Which came soon after then the girl awoke and used a much stronger light. They rode in on the coat tails of the new attack. They survived the shadow purging by using the shadow cast by Ayame’s light. So when they struck Avis, it was already after the wave of healing had gone through. This meant that the attack came just after the healing. The shadows would be absorbed into his clothing and body; leaving the appearance, that Ayame’s light had destroyed the shadow tendrils. He may even think his body had been healed, when it had really been poisoned. He could not know the difference, especially since Ayame’s healing did not remove fatigue and energy loss. So it would feel like it was supposed too, a very subtle attack that saturated his clothes in the shadow poison. Too bad, there were no visual signs that he was contaminated.

Even if his body fought the invading poison, that would only make it spread faster. The more he fought, the larger the hold it would gain. Slowly turning him to the dark side and into something, he would consider a fate worse then death. He could not know anything was wrong until after he had slept, waking up groggy, disoriented and over all just feeling miserable and depressed. These were the first signs of the contamination, however, they were also the symptoms of overusing ones own energy. So it may be taken just that, Which further means it will take longer to detect and purge. The poison is slow, but if it is not cleansed within two days time, the poison will forever course through his veins and he will become that which he despises most. Which is a demon, in this case a demon of shadow like Mistress Elite. The only difference was that she had built up immunity to attacks by light. He would be very susceptible, even if his companions did not turn on him; it was not reversible after the two days. *

Meanwhile

*Mistress Elite growled as her shadows were dispelled, She did not bother to call them again. At least as he brother had originally called them into being. The enemy liked to play with light and fire. She raised her lance towards the sky, twirling it in one hand as she prepared to strike again. The twirling stopped abruptly as she pointed the lance straight towards the companions, then swung it wide. As if she was opening herself to attack, leaving her body vulnerable as she reached out to the plane of shadows.

She did not leave enough time for a substantial attack, because a wave of Shadow fire erupted outward in front of her. It grew faster as it moved away from her, also getting larger. This was not like the tendrils she had called before. This was no slow moving poison. Its contamination was far greater, To be hit by this would not kill, it would change. Her greatest power lay in her ability to corrupt and change those into her own minions and servants. She especially wanted the archer and Gorog. If she could get the others it would just be icing on the cake. The elf was even know being corrupted to her side. So much fun was it to destroy an elf’s livelihood. A druid would be the perfect addition to her collection.

Once all of Ayame’s companions were turned to her side and she gained complete control, she would come quietly. She thought she had everything wrapped up. This would bring her great favor with the Fallen God. He was no demon, but he had slain the previous demon lord who had ruled them.*

Meanwhile

*Gorog’s body was healed; a grin covered his lips even as his body drew in energy to fill his stores. With a second roar, his body completed the change. A dragon berserker in dragon form was something to be feared, especially since dragons were resistant to most forms of sorcery. His wings unfolded even as the berserker once again took over. He crouched low, The shadow fire hitting him directly, He took most of the blow directly, some made it past him to continue towards the others. She had underestimated Gorog though. The smarter a being was, the easier her poisons and demonic changing energies worked. Gorog would never be overly intelligent. Most of the times rocks seemed smarter by comparison. Her abilities held no sway over one who could only think when he was told what to do. That was the entire reason the berserker spirit had chosen him. He could follow orders, but in combat there was no tactics, only sheer brutality and bloodlust. Bother of which Gorog had in volume. Strong emotions such as Gorog possessed tended to make him ideal for this sort of thing.

He snapped his head forward even as he was hit with the flames. An attempt to bite her head off, but he missed. He drove on relentlessly though. Biting and clawing, but he was held at bay by her ever-moving lance. The only good thing about his relentless attacks, was that she couldn’t attack anyone else, but there was still minions to take care of and someone may get a lucky shot in on Mistress Elite. *

Meanwhile

*With the second roar and Gorog’s complete transformation, she seemed at a loss for what to really do next. He had taken the full force of her shadow fire and it barely slowed him. What monster is he? How had he converted her flamed into free energy that he could use himself? They did not know enough about the enemy. Her brother was not smart enough to survive any longer. Having fled the battlefield, he likely would not survive the wrath of the Fallen God. She did not intend to return if she failed. She would die on the battlefield before letting the Fallen God have her. The death she would receive at his hands would be absolute, but if she died here on the battlefield, she would eventually be able to return to this plane of existence. Time was on her side, not the companions.

As the dragon snapped and clawed at her, she parried and danced back. Using her lance to parry and deflect his attempts. He was a large dragon for this world, which surprised her even more. He was not from the twin worlds, he could not possibly be. She needed to report this, but she couldn’t break free of his attacks. Even as she wove shadows in an attempt to confuse and disorient him. She forgot to watch out for arrows and dragovian magic. *

When the girl seemed to sink back into her slumber Eldyn almost sighed in relief. This was no place for an innocent. His eyes were drawn to the newcomer who had just easily and impressively dropped over his fyre just missing a flare up that had responded to the new one's presence. He watched as the new one pulled weapons and sighed, help at last. He began to incant, "Elfin Fyre do my bidding, heed my call. Brighter and brightest shine your light, a mini sun. Mine to command," he held his arms up even as the fyre flared blue-black to blue-orange to orange-blue to orange-red to red-orange to red-yellow to yellow-white and finally to white. Raising it above his head this white light flared out illuminating the battlefield and the corpses scattered around him.

When a girlish shriek arose behind him his eyes closed. He felt the rising wave of energy as he was struck by her healing powers. It shredded his fyre and the flames banked and went out of his control flying towards the female demon though he saw nothing of this... His wounds were healed but her power had a side effect he wouldnt have expected but there was one other thing he had forgotten as well. He had forgotten about the shadow tendrils but figured his light would have dispelled them. He never noticed when they struck, sinking into his clothes then his skin.

The strength of the beast spell was shattered and all of his exhaustion and the pain from injuries now healed collapsed onto and into him, hitting his system and sending him into shock. His lungs labored, his heart began to beat erratically and he fell. His eyes blurred and he fell over as his exhaustion finally hit him. He convulsed and his breath rattled in his throat a final silent ending as his body slammed to the ground, silent, still, dead.

Biruka, in high spirits with the fleeing of the demon he shot, examines the area for more prey. Quickly turning his attention to a group of minions closing on him. All of a sudden he got by a wave of energy, having no effect him. Looking for the source, he noticed Ayame’s movement, thinking its great she’s still alive for now at least. With the group of minions he was eyeing taken out by the energy wave, he settles for another, again closing in on him but this time, from the opposite direction. With both blades at the ready, he stands his ground as the demon minions rush in. Slashing at the leading minions knee, and dodging away as the others tumble over it, but not before the fallen minions last ditch effort, attempting a stab at his chest, but missing and creating a gash in his side.

All of a sudden, out of the corner of his eye, Biruka sees a huge fireball go rushing towards the demon fighting the dragon. With his own self to worry about at this moment and the fireball not heading in his direction, he again focuses on the minions.

With the fallen minions scrambling to get back up, and with Biruka’s new injury fanning the fire for battle, he circles the group. Slashing and stabbing at any minion who moved, receiving numerous smaller injuries on his lower body and legs from struggling minions. With that group taken care of, he sheaths his bloody blades, and takes out his bow. Movements slowed somewhat, due to the injuries to his legs, he dashes around so he’s behind the demon mistress, in her blind spot. He takes a moment to gather his thoughts, and then starts to fire off a flurry of arrows directed at the demon mistress. After a half dozen arrows or so, and her attention probably more towards him now than it was before at least, he takes one more arrow and pulls it back hard, sets the shaft on fire with his spell, and sends it flying towards the demon.

Biruka takes note of the fallen elf, realising that must be where the fireball from earlier came from. Now there’s a second person out of the battle and one more to protect. With an arrow knocked and ready to fire at any time, Biruka dashes out of the clearing and into the brush and trees, keeping a close eye on the demon mistress at all times. Realising that, if the demon mistress can take on a dragon that size, there's no way he would stand a chance in close combat with her.

As the energy receded Ayame’s eyes closed and her body went limp as she fainted, as much from fright as from energy exhaustion. Behind her, as if from a silent signal, the three forms moved in slowly. Noting that others were occupied they would now attempt to grab the girl as per their orders.

Meanwhile in a Stone Fortress………

The former general hung from chains facing the wall as his Master continued the torture, “your failure must be punished,” the dark, beautiful voice stated, “let us hope your sister fares better than you did, else she shall be joining you on my wall…and her punishment will be more than yours,” his hand played in the blood seeping down the demon’s back before sliding slickly across his bloody rump. He reveled in the screams and whimpers his touch caused, loving the pain he was inflicting, “no failure goes unpunished. Perhaps when I am finished, you will remember that.”

*Mistress Elite saw the strange elf gathering energy and knew something was coming towards her. So in an effort to stop the flames she shifted her direction slightly with each block and parry. The result was still the same though. She had maneuvered the enraged dragon into the fireballs path. The dragon offered a much larger target to be hit by the fireball. She was more worried about the dragon and the stinging arrows fired by the other one. As the arrows came in she took one in shoulder and another in thigh, even as a shadow portal appeared behind her. As the arrows drove into her she fell back through the open portal, letting it close behind her.

The enemy was too strong, unlike her idiot brother; she would likely not be punished as severely. Since she had managed to get detailed information on what had happened. She had very detailed information on the brutish berserker, the master’s soon to be plaything, and the retarded Elf that seemed to have no clue what he was doing. She however, did not have much on the newest arrival. She knew he had a very wicked way with a bow and his twin swords, but she had not been able to analyze any more data on it and transmit it to a shadow cube. The master would be very interested in learning of these new beings on his world. She would not give him a reason to punish her. Her minions had better succeed in taking the girl.

Meanwhile

*Gorog did not even notice the change in direction and he certainly did not see the elf launch a fireball with the rest of his energy. He simply followed the darting, female, demon thing with the nasty lance. He had been about to bite at her again when he felt the fireball strike him full in the back. He barely noticed the arrows enter her body before she was disappearing through a portal. His attention was no on Mistress Elite though. His attention was rapidly changing directions. He turned one hundred and eighty degrees. The stench of burnt flesh, draconic or otherwise would assault his own nostrils.

He roared even as he turned on the Elf. Not only had his back been singed, but his wings as well. He was advancing on the elf, when the Elf suddenly passed out. This for some reason made him even angrier. His eyes were darting about for new enemies, when he spotted Mistress Elite’s minions moving towards a fallen Ayame. He charged at them, feeling anger, yet more so he was hungry. Since he could not eat the Fallen Elf, he would settle for Minions. He stopped when he stood over Ayame’s body, his massive head darting forward like a serpents and snatching a minion into the air, then one went up from each of his talons. He opened his mouth wide and caught all three, barely remembering to chew as they went into his gullet. There was more, but he couldn’t reach them at this point. So he held his ground. His tail lashing back and forth, Ayame nestled easily under his legs. He was only about ten feet tall, but close to fifty feet long. Smoke was coming from his nostrils even as he looked about for more enemies to eat and kill.*

Biruka stays hidden in the bushes just outside of the clearing, watching the scene unfold as the dragon eats minions whole. Not wanting to become a target for the raging dragon, he decides to stay put for now, and see how things turn out before making a move.

As the minions were gobbled up, Madam Elite's second in command decided that it would be safer to leave and face her wrath than face the large creature before him. Leaving his subordinates he scurried through the portal...keying it closed behind him.

Meanwhile in a stone fortress.........

He stepped back from the bloody husk of the oaf reveling in the whimperings of pain that were emitted. His white cloak was now stained black with the demon's blood but he thought his....point had been gotten, "fail me again...and you will die," his beautiful voice whispered melodically. His sodden cloak floated around him in the well of his power as did his black hair. With a thought he teleported the oaf to the medical ward so that his injuries could be looked after even as he moved over to the fire and watched the large creature gobbeling up the minions and standing over the girl. For a moment he balked when he saw that the girl was underneath that large creature...if she died all of his plans would be ruined.

Back to the clearing...........

The fainted Ayame began to struggle for breath. Her heart began to beat irratically. The demon's spell had repercussions that had been overlooked by the caster. In reconnecting to her twice he had placed her life in grave danger. The burst of power had been too much for her already shocked system and she began to gasp. Her eyes flew open for a second before closing once again even as her body began to convulse and shiver.

Meanwhile in the fortress..........

He frowned. Then his rage blew out from him, causing furrows to form in the walls and floor, 'that fool,' he raged mentally, 'she could die because of his stupidity...and if she does...he will die as will all of his bloodline.'

Back to the clearing.........

The elf lay eyes open, body still, dead. His heroics had cost him his life and at his side the sword vanished to find another owner, one more worthy of it's abilities. Upon his death his magics had vanished, the vines sinking back to the earth. Small trailing vines wrapped around his carcas and drew him gently beneath the earth...a final burial honoring his communion with nature by nature itself.

*Gorog growled in displeasure as his meal ran away from him. The meager scraps he had gotten were not enough to settle his rage. He reverted to half-orc form after the portal was closed. He was still standing over Ayame. His axe was no longer merged with his flesh. He was heaving with exertion and overall fatigue. He looked down at his body. The girl had healed him, or so he had thought at the time. His arms and legs looked to be in tatters. He could not remember getting hit after he transformed.

He was bleeding heavily, but then again he was always bleeding after a berserker frenzy. He could shrug the pain off; at least his belly was full for once. Those strange little things actually tasted good. He would have to look out for them more now, since they were somewhat of a delicacy to him. He looked down; noticing Ayame was under him so to speak. He looked around for the first time. The nasty elf was gone completely, so he did not get to eat him for the fireball to his back. He twisted slightly to see how back the burn was and winced in agony. It was okay while he did not think about it.

His eyes fell on the elf with the stinging arrows and blades. How could something that small inflict so much pain into the enemies? He shook his head to clear his thoughts. It would only lead to more headaches if he let the thoughts continue. It was better to let the others do the thinking and him to supply the brute force. He turned and sat on the ground facing Ayame. Wondering why she did not get up. He scented the air to see what the archer guy was *

“Little strange guy, why she no wake up? I feel no breath from her. Lungs no work me thinks. No can help her. Crush her if try. You help lil dragon girl?”

*He was looking right at spot where Biruka was hiding in the bushes. A look of concern and fear covered his face. They were probably very odd features to put to one of his race. Even if he was not like his kind, he still had similar traits. Truthfully, he was feeling helpless right now. He could deal with enemies and battle, but had no clue about helping or doing much without being directed to do so. He couldn’t help Ayame without hurting her more then she already was, so he had to rely on the smaller Biruka who was very precise and had different skills then the brute force and strength of Gorog.*

A gate opened near Ayame and a spry old man hopped out and raced over to her, giving the Dragon a pat on the shoulder as if to say, 'good day youngling I'm here to help,' before leaning down and taking stock of her physical distress. With a shake of his head power surges from him. He was ancient, this old man....he'd lived a very long time...saw his own species perish in one day.

From the day this child had been born, he had watched over her in secret...his multiple great granddaughter, "your history can not end here child. There is a great mission for you to complete, therefore, I am sorry. For this," he exhaled just above her mouth and npse then whispered, "you will not find it pleasant but it WILL save you; though it may take a little time," he stood and slapped the large dragon once again on the shoulder, "she'll live. However, you will need to keep her still for two days time. She must stay absolutely still. I've ensured she will sleep through it, but in general that technique causes nightmares in the one being healed. I never managed to perfect it unfortunately. Take care of her. She is more important than you know," with that he waved his hand and another portal opened. With an over the shoulder wave he stepped through and the portal closed behind him.

Ayame

She lay still, her dreams turning dark. The only sound out of her was a whimper.

With a rapid shift of motion he came out of meditation and called forth vines and rotting branches, giving them life as he dodged and weaved around to avoid them.
